Those who follow Skinny Latte Mommy on Facebook know that my little family recently visited the Palm Beach Zoo. We had a positively lovely St. Patrick's Day exploring the zoo and enjoying an up-close encounter with an Aldabra Tortoise! The following are a few of our photos from the visit.

We began the day with a carousel and kiddie train ride.
As usual, this was a highlight for Miss Cupcake.
Next we heading off to the Aldabra Tortoise Experience. This experience gave us the opportunity to go behind the scenes with one of the world's largest tortoises. We were amazed at how huge they actually were! We learned some fascinating facts from the friendly staff while feeding the tortoises their favorite greens, giving them a bath, and (of course) taking photos.
This was truly a memorable and fun experience!
We were surprised to learn that tortoises are actually quite smart!

Bathing the Aldabra Tortoises was great fun.
While Miss Cupcake was a bit intimidated by the large creatures, she talked about them non-stop on the drive home. She was quite impressed and excited about the experience!
Miss Cupcake was highly amused by the friendly "little" iguana that was hanging out with the tortoises.
Next, we took a stroll around the zoo. The butterfly garden was gorgeous and provided us with the opportunity to view these beautiful creatures up close.
We decided to take in a couple of the daily shows. Our favorite was the awe-inspiring Wings Over Water show which features over 20 trained birds. As you can see from this photo, the birds came into the audience for a fun interactive experience.
We were all amused by the way this trained bird was able to match the shapes to drop into the bucket.
I loved the fact that all of the animals seemed so happy and healthy!
Miss Cupcake and Daddy enjoyed lounging in the Bald Eagle nest.
Our experience at the zoo was certainly a pleasant one.
I highly recommend scheduling one (or more!) of the several Animal Experiences during your visit.
