Hubby & Wifey Towel Racks

I have been adding a few updates to our master bathroom.  When I spotted these hand painted wooden towel racks by Helen Handmade I knew that they had be be included in my decor.  Helen Handmade is an Etsy shop that specializes in hand painted signs and hand painted party decor that is designed to reflect personalized style.  The unique items available are perfect for weddings, home, and business.

This adorable set of two couple's towel racks make a great wedding gift or housewarming gift. These would also be ideal for in a shared kids' bathroom since they can be personalized with names.  Wording options include Mr & Mrs, wifey & hubby, or names. These towel hooks measure approximately 6 x 4 x 1" and are ready to hang.   They are the perfectly cute and practical finishing touch that my bathroom needed.

Deck the Door Decor

I never stopped to consider the number of times that I have kicked open my from door while carrying an armful of groceries or a wiggly toddler.  One day I noticed the scuff marks and dirt that my shoes had caused my front door and knew that something had to change.  I was on a mission to find the perfect way to make my front door a bit more functional without compromising appearance.

My search led me to Deck the Door Decor.  I had never even heard of a kick plate before, but the moment I spotted them on the website I knew that was exactly what I needed.  These attractive plates protect the front door from wear and tear (often caused by pushing the door  open with the toe of your shoe).  While most door kick plates in the market have been designed solely to serve this function, Deck the Door Decor offers options that also serve as a tasteful decoration to your home.

It's no secret that I am a lover of all things monogrammed. Of course, when I noticed that Deck the Door Decor offered monogrammed kick plates I was thrilled!  A monogrammed front door kick plate is a fun way to tell the world that you live here and that you have an impeccable eye for detail and classic style.

These monogrammed kick plates come in a variety of finishes: brass, brushed nickel, and stainless steel.  Each plate is made from high-grade aluminum that will not rust or tarnish over time.

CanvasPop Giveaway

This year I have been adding a few personalized touches to our home.  I wanted to make Miss Cupcake's crafting/snacking area a bit more cheerful.  I added a floral topiary to her Hayden Kids 3 Piece Square Table and Chairs Set.  Next, I decided to hang a 16X24" canvas from CanvasPop.  Displaying photos of Miss Cupcake throughout the house is one way that I show her just how much I treasure her. This lovely canvas brought a smile to her darling little face.  We both agree that this was the perfect finishing touch.  While this was my first experience with CanvasPop, it will certainly not be my last.

Silly McGilly // St. Patrick's Day Fun For Your Wee Lil' One

"I'll work my shenanigans while you are snug asleep, don't worry that I'll wake you, I will not make a peep.  When you wake up, find the trick that I've done.  I hope your whole family will join in the fun."
-Excerpt from Silly McGilly's Book

Miss Cupcake is a wee bit Irish!
And we both love a good ol' holiday.
The Silly McGilly book and doll set arrived just in time to create a new St. Patrick's Day tradition.
This set is great fun for families with small children and teachers.

Silly McGilly is a friendly Leprechaun who enjoys playing fun little tricks on children throughout the St. Patrick’s Day season. Read his story, then place his doll by a window each evening that you would like Silly to come and play a trick in your home or classroom.

The next morning children will delight in seeing what shenanigans Silly McGilly has been up to while they slept.  Maybe he’s left some treats behind: it could be chocolate coins, shamrocks or a St. Patrick’s day sticker.  Or, maybe he’s been up to a little mischief, turning over chairs or leaving the kitchen cabinets open.

The magic of Silly McGilly is as limitless as your imagination.
YOU hold the power to decide what sorts of fun Silly will have in your home or classroom, and how often Silly will visit:
Every day in March, once a week, or just the day before St. Patrick’s Day.

Whether you’re Irish or not, wonderful memories are waiting for you with this new St. Patrick's Day tradition!

Decor Inspiration & Rug Giveaway ($150 Value)

I have been wanting to create a cozy area in my living room where I can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee in the mornings.  This area needed to be functional enough to sit for long periods of time with my laptop or simply spending an afternoon cuddling with Miss Cupcake.  Also, I wanted it to be simple enough to utilize the brown leather furniture I already had in the area while incorporating a new splash of color.

The room was instantly brightened with this Aurora Radiance rug.  This lovely design is inspired by nature's splendor, with a pattern reminiscent of lush leaves falling softly over water. Cool aqua shades run alongside hints of chartreuse, sky blue and rich grey in the palette.  I chose this Mohawk rug in size 10'X14' to fill the large floor space.

Family is a gift that lasts forever.
I hung a 20'X30' canvas from Bay Photo Lab (more about my love for this company in a later post) above my comfy chair as a constant reminder of how blessed I am to have dear hubby and little Miss Cupcake in my life.

The vinyl decal was something that I stumbled across on Etsy and immediately knew I needed.  This quote perfectly expresses how I feel about my family.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

We recently spent a day at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.  Miss Cupcake enjoyed every moment of the fun and educational experience.  We all enjoyed learning about the engineering of rockets and the exciting plans to send astronauts to Mars.  It was certainly a pleasant day full of family fun!

Children's Play Dome
The Children's Play Dome immediately caught Miss Cupcake's eye when we entered. This one-of-a-kind space-themed playground with the majestic Rocket Garden as a backdrop allows children to take off in a spacecraft, climb a moon rock wall, crawl through rocket tunnels and slide to the surface of the Moon.

Dear Hubby and I used this opportunity to take a look at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex map and schedule of shows while Miss Cupcake enjoyed the Children's Play Dome.

Atlantis Theater
Our journey began in the Atlantis Theater where we learned the story of the people who dared to do the impossible. We gazed in wonder at a close-up view of Space Shuttle Atlantis, displayed in mid-flight glory. With more than 60 interactive exhibits, this was an amazing opportunity to celebrate some of humankind's greatest achievements.

Rocket Garden
We loved exploring and learning in the Rocket Garden!  At NASA, it is often said that we stand on the shoulders of giants. Nowhere is that more apparent than in the Rocket Garden. Behind every rocket you see are great men and women engineers and astronauts, designers and thinkers who turned dreams into history.
Miss Cupcake was amazed by the Rocket Garden!

3D Presentations
A highlight of the day was the two incredible, five-story 3D presentations. One explores the breathtaking images captured by the Hubble Space Telescope, and the other details projects that NASA is currently working on, like sending astronauts to Mars.  This was Miss Cupcake's first time watching a 3D show, and she was highly impressed with the experience.

Astronaut Encounter
Miss Cupcake loved this large astronaut display!  But it gets even better than that... visitors have the unique opportunity to meet a real veteran NASA astronaut at the live Astronaut Encounter show. Offered multiple times daily, this exciting presentation features an astronaut every day with more than 30 of the approximately 500 hundred men and women who have flown in space scheduled.
throughout the year.  Lunch with an astronaut is also available!

Kennedy Space Center Tour Bus
There’s no better way to get a glimpse of Kennedy Space Center than on one of the daily tours.  These tours depart by bus every 15 minutes from the Visitor Complex. The experienced tour guides will take you past some of the most iconic NASA landmarks.  Miss Cupcake fell asleep on the bus which gave her an opportunity to sneak in an afternoon nap while the hubby and I enjoyed the tour.  Fun fact: we spotted several alligators during the bus tour!

Apollo/Saturn V Center
We relived the wonder and excitement of the Apollo era in this one-of-a-kind exhibit that celebrates the unprecedented achievement of putting man on the moon and the joy felt in that moment by all humankind.

Journey To Mars: Explorers Wanted
We learned more about what it truly takes to explore Mars in this inspiring show. The exhibits provided us with a look at prototypes and designs that will launch the next generation to Mars and beyond, including rovers, simulators, and the Orion crew capsule.  This was my personal favorite show at the  Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

Being one of the first astronauts on Mars is now high on Miss Cupcakes's list of aspirations.
Dream big little one!
